"Someone's watching us," says Dwight, interrupting the conversation entirely. His eyes have locked onto Danny's hiding spot, wide and scared, a deer in the headlights. Danny shifts, delighting in the thrill of violating the sanctity of their haven, in invading, in being where he shouldn't. What will he do? Will he run? Scream? Sound the alarm? Confront Danny? Now that would be interesting. A little mouse roaring like a lion.
Dwight looks away, chewing on his nails. He is concerned, but not any more than usual. He didn't see anything.
Fury bubbles up in Danny's chest before he forces himself to dial it back. Fine. It's his own fault. He should know better. You can't insert yourself into the narrative unless you give up the narrative altogether.
