“Elphaba Thropp,” Galinda addressed loudly, her voice cutting through the murmurs of the crowd. “You better let me back into your life this instant!”

“We don’t have time,” Elphaba says. “Are you coming?” It’s not so much a question as it is the realization of a denial. Of course Glinda isn’t going to come with her.
Glinda doesn’t answer, instead she wraps her arms around Elphaba’s shoulders and they share a hug so fierce Elphaba is sure she’ll have the imprints of Glinda’s hands on her for the rest of her days.
“Elphie—we’ll fix it, alright? Just don’t be a stranger. I'll wait and I'll find you, but now go.”
