The two of you shift among a dozen topics of conversation as you walk along; you were currently in the middle of an intense discussion of what was the best John Hughes movie to have graced the big screen. John stops his passionate ramblings on the comedic glory that was Uncle Buck when his gaze rests on a child. They couldn’t have been older than three years old, wandering the void between the outskirts of the playground and a river of passing strangers. All alone and far from the sights of parents on benches.
“Nobody’s got their eyes on him.” John mutters, disappointed with a simmer of heat nipping under the words. You nudge his shoulder with yours and fall into step alongside him.
“We do now.”

She casually pulls a gun from behind her back—clearly about to shoot him—but Dana beats her to it.
The hand gun he gave her mere minutes earlier is aimed right at his head.
OR
I make a few adjustments to the end of TCITW to give Dana pointing the gun at Marty a more romantic reason. Confessing and kissing ensues as the world ends.

Marty has some misgivings about splitting up, and Dana seems to be the one with the clearest head, so maybe they should stick together. He chooses to pull her into his room instead of letting her go into her own. This one small act throws off the Organizations plans in a major way and has the potential to change all of their futures.
