Summary
The party all survive the final battle and set off to start another journey together- college. They are all dealing with the aftermath of Vecna and the Upside Down, and are just trying to find their places in the world, all while experiencing the full spectrum of emotion college has to offer.
Alt: Mike keeps bringing boys who look like Will home and Max and Lucas are FED UP. Will's been suffering from nightmares, and Mike does his very best to soothe him in whatever way he can. Mike has been having his own problems with depression and anxiety, made worse by Will's previous absence from his life. Lucas and Max are thriving and trying to hold the party together with the power of love! El is finding her own path in life alongside her friends and has discovered her passion. Dustin and Steve are healing in their own unique ways, finding time to visit their friends as often as they can. El longs for new romantic possibilities and finds them, wink wink. Nancy and Jonathan are following their journalism dreams together in the same state as Robin (who is still with Vickie!), all four of them do their best to mentor the party when needed. And Joyce and Hopper are married and happy in Montauk. There, the scene is set. Enjoy!

“Will's the Sorcerer, right?”
“Uhh, yeah? I mean the character is loosely based-,”
Max burst out laughing, “and you're the Paladin? Oh my God Mike-,”
“The hell is so funny?” Mike snapped.
“You don't even?” Max scoffed. This is why Mike didn't like talking to Max. She spoke as if she knew some joke that flew right over Mike's head, and Mike had a feeling he was the joke.
“Mike. I don't know how to tell you this so I'm just gonna say it,” Max started, “The Paladin is in love with The Sorcerer.”
Mike groaned. They stayed silent for a moment. Max waiting for a reply and Mike cringing at the revelation that maybe this ran deeper than he thought. Maybe the critics weren't wrong. Maybe Heather, along with the rest of his fans, hadn't been crazy after all and hadn't completely misunderstood the text he'd spent seven years writing.
“Why does everyone keep saying that?” He finally grumbled.
Or, In 1996, Mike releases a book inspired by the party and their adventures. A small but loud fandom forms around shipping The Paladin and The Sorcerer. But, that was all wrong. Mike had never been in love with Will, had he?
