Summary
The thing is, for Rumi, that she’s started to notice Zoey and Mira jumping in front of her more and more… even when she’s not down. She’s tried not to say anything because Mira and Zoey act like it’s normal. The balance in the group shifted for the better once Rumi came clean about her patterns - who is she to ruin such a good thing?
But then Rumi takes a blindside hit to the shoulder in a dark alley.
OR, to quote eldergoblin herself: "Pretty sure they'd all throw themselves in front of danger for the others and now Rumi has to deal with being the one so loved her girl took a bunch of hits protecting her."

Summary
One drunken conversation in a hotel room in the middle of Phoenix, Arizona leads Mira and Zoey to add a new dynamic to their relationship. The sex is good, and they swear up and down it's just platonic, an easy way to relieve stress. But sex and intimacy are never that simple, and Mira quickly finds herself dealing with new, unfamiliar feelings towards her best friend.
A/N: This is a prequel to both the movie and to We're Still Survivors. You don't have to have read the other fics in this series for this to make sense, but it will help expand on things.
