Remus knew that voice. Had loved that voice. It was still as soft as the first time he heard it and still as warm as when he fell in love with it. He had lost a lot of things in the war and had at one point thought her to be one of them. Even now, ten years after the war, she still looked just the same as she had the summer she graduated. Sure, her smile lines were a little deeper, now that she was almost 30, and she could rival him in the number of thin white scars littering her skin. But she was still one of the loves of his life and while they may never be complete again, he knew he was more complete with her than alone.

Lovely readers, I'm stoked on this one. I've always had a really hard time picturing how I would write a modern John, and could never really get it quite right in my head. Well, I've figured it out. Legit clapped to myself when this idea came to me. It's gonna be epic.
