“Fighting a Lower Moon alone? Are you out of your damn mind?”
Giyu flinches at the whisper-shout, his exhaustion making him slow to process the sudden intensity. “I’m a Hashira,” he murmurs, his tone even, though the words come out softer than he intends, “I can handle it.”
“Clearly not!” Sanemi snaps back, his voice rising slightly before he reins it in, casting a glance toward the door as if to make sure no one heard, “You almost died, Giyu! You should never have gone on this mission alone, especially after Rengoku just—”
Sanemi cuts himself off abruptly, his jaw clenching as he turns his head away. His hands curl into tight fists at his sides, the knuckles pale. The unfinished sentence lingers in the air, heavy and suffocating.

OR: Giyu is always reckless on missions, getting himself hurt and throwing himself into unnecessary danger. He never thinks much of it—it’s not like anyone would care much if he did die. Sanemi decides to show him just how wrong he is.
