Jack looked from the intern picture to Robby again, rubbing a tired hand over his eyes. "Jesus, this is like a recipe." He gestured between the picture and Robby, young and old. "It's like twink plus seasoning equals daddy. Fuck," he said, a kind of helpless note to it. Then he walked out, like he hadn't just dropped a bomb on Robby's head.

It landed deep in Robby's chest, a warm kind of awareness rising; this was Jack's version of care. He may not approve of the bike, but he was trying to make sure Robby was as safe as possible on it.
Jack dropped the Garmin back to the table and tapped the pocket knife. "And a Leatherman ARC. It's got like twenty tools on here. Basic stuff, but it'll help you fix some things. And before you argue, you never know what could go wrong on the road. If you're not always prepared, you're never prepared."
"Are you about to hit me with 'two is one, one is none?'" Robby asked, only slightly mocking.
Jack jutted his chin forward, stubborn. "If I thought you'd take two, I'd send two."

Summary
It sparks something in him, seeing Jack wearing his clothes, and what it sparks is the startling capability for Robby to put his foot in his mouth. Because in addition to thinking of Jack in his sweater, he thinks about his reaction to it.
Robby never claimed to be a smart man. Maybe in med school when he was young and cocky, but in recent times Robby has never assumed the position of intelligent. So, really, it shouldn’t be surprising that he’d also be unintelligent about all things Jack, too.
