All of their intimacies, whether they were initiated by himself or Shimizu, Higuruma had thought of them as essential. They only had each other to rely on. And that reliance often had them in claustrophobic approximation: sharing a drink or meal, changing clothes in front of each other, having the key to each other’s apartments. Being comfortable around each other was a necessary, vital aspect of working together.
