Oliver’s wrapped himself entirely around Felicity, almost as if he’s using his body as a shield.
Lance pauses at the thought, his gaze scanning over the hospital bed and their tangled limbs. He takes in the way Oliver’s hand is pressed directly over her heart and the way he has the back of her head cradled almost reverently in his other arm as he keeps it tucked securely beneath his chin.
There's not one inch of Felicity Smoak that is vulnerable, and Lance knows down to his very core that that’s exactly what Oliver Queen had intended to accomplish.
(Or, pt 2 of Let it Be Me in which Detective Lance stumbles into the hospital under the impression that he’s taking the statement of a gunshot wound victim only to find out that it’s his friend - his sweet and bubbly Felicity - that’s hooked up to the many beeping machines. Lance is pissed - at the SCPD for not telling him, at the Hood for not answering his calls, at Oliver Queen for everything - but then he’s standing in the hospital room and figuring out that the Ollie that boarded the Gambit is a far cry from the Oliver wrapped protectively around one Miss Smoak).
