A lazy smile spreads across Viktor's face. "Jayce," he drawls, his accent thicker than usual. "You came to . . . to rescue me from . . . boredom, yes?"
"Uh." Jayce blinks. "I mean, I guess? You're acting a little weird, V."
Viktor leans closer—too close—bumping their shoulders together. "A little weird?" he parrots, raising his chin to meet Jayce's eyes. "How so? Enlighten me, Talis. Your diagnostics are always . . . thorough."
"Drunk," Jayce deadpans. "You're drunk, Viktor."
At an after-party, Viktor drinks a little too much. Jayce helps him home, not expecting a confession.

His breath caught in his throat, choking as he clawed desperately at the hand, but it didn’t loosen, only tightened. Here’s how it goes: boy is lonely. Alcohol and overpass cliche. Boy meets boy. Boy loves boy. Boy does not say a word about it. Happy montage. Slice of life montage. Sad montage. Boy and boy grow further apart. Boy leaves boy. Boy does not get over it. Alcohol and overpass cliche returneth. Boy is lonely.
Sisyphean indeed.

Disillusioned, depressed and drunk, Viktor forgoes throwing himself off an overpass and takes the only marginally better route of texting his long-estranged best friend instead.
Or: Jayce turns up on Viktor’s doorstep after five years.

Summary
After the destruction of the wild rune, Jayce and Viktor wake up in the council chamber, astonished to find themselves alive. But their brief joy quickly crumbles when they meet with Piltover’s leaders and Viktor is arrested. For Jayce, it feels as though his world has fallen apart. Just when he thought he’d regained his closest friend, he’s at risk of losing him again. Determined to prevent this, Jayce vows to do everything in his power to help Viktor win his trial. But as the trial unfolds, their bond will be tested again. In the midst of the chaos, deeper feelings begin to surface, leaving them questioning if their connection has grown into something far greater than friendship.
