Why couldn’t he be fine? His mother had sent him a letter, he should be happy that she even still thought about him.
But this was exactly why he hated receiving anything from her. It had been a while since he'd sent back a letter telling her how he was doing. He felt so guilty. He had been ignoring her for a year now, yet, every three months without missing, she sent him a letter.
He had foolishly hoped that after a while she would stop writing to him, angry about the fact that her son was ignoring her, but no.
He didn’t even read them. He didn’t have the courage.
Or: Kaveh keeps getting letters from his mother and he never answers them, Alhaitham is there to help.

Summary
Arrogant, self-centered, and selfish, that's what his partner is. Kaveh is relieved that they are almost done with the project that they were assigned to work on together. Of all students from the Darshan of Haravatat, why did he end up getting paired with someone who's basically the epitome of everything that irks him?!
Kaveh is sure that he doesn't want to work with Alhaitham ever again. So when he suddenly finds himself waking up ten years into the future married to the said man, he is in complete denial.
