Summary
Nikolai is a traveling performer hired by a local doctor to infiltrate the estate of an aristocrat rumored to have ties to a dangerous underground organization. His job? Gather enough information from Fyodor—and, when all is said and done—silence him.
But the deeper he ventures into the estate, the more unsettling the situation becomes.
Information requires proximity.
Proximity requires trust.
And in a game where trust can be manufactured as easily as lies, Nikolai may discover too late that he was never the one in control.
Or: the 1700s AU that absolutely nobody asked for.

“Is that so, dear Fyodor?” Nikolai closed up to his face. “Mind that you are keeping me close because I can disappear anytime from the Earth’s surface, whereas you seem to be more bound to this earthly shell than anything.”
Fyodor didn't falter.
Even if his plan fails, he could try again as many times as he could. His time was infinite. If the performer dies, then he will find another one.
There was nothing he could loose.

He sighs dramatically, half expecting some harsh insults or something. He opens the door and freezes. No, no he has to be imagining things. He feels all his face become numb and featureless with shock, a cold sweat creeping up his back.
Fyodor. He has tears falling from his glassy, oh so beautiful eyes. His breathing was so uneven he almost sounded hysterical.
His lips shake as he rasps, “Help me.”
Or: if Fyodor and Nikolai met as teens and Nikolai fell in love at first sight (but is also in denial) and Fyodor is the son of this evil rich guy?? Secret Garden and Highschool AU - (also you don't have to have watched the secret garden to understand this, it's quite loosely based off of it)
