“Mobius, I told you. I always lose,” he said softly. “I never get what I want. Not truly.”
Mobius held his gaze, swallowed, and asked, “What do you want, Loki?”
And, well, wasn’t that a loaded question? Loki has wanted so very many things he never could have and never did have. Oftentimes, he didn’t get them because he was far too much of a coward.
That same fear washed over him again in this moment, even when he knew this may be the last time he could ever try to get what he wanted. The fear of rejection. And though he knew he could always go back and try again, he didn’t want to; didn’t want to relive this particular failure time and time again.
Loki wet his lips, then spoke. “You’ve studied my entire past. My future. Different versions of me across time and space. What do you think?”

Summary
