Summary
Max, George, Alex and Lando are in a band but what they really need is a lead singer. On a night out they decide that the best way to do it is use Dan’s bar for a talent competition, that is until Charles turns up, a drop dead gorgeous new bartender that could derail everything Max has built in one foul swoop. Or he could launch them into stardom, be the missing peice they needed and maybe just maybe be the best thing that has ever happened to Max.

That’s basically how Max Verstappen, a grown adult, traps Daniel, another grown adult, into doing karaoke with him: puppy eyes and a drunken whisper and voilà, Daniel is ready to smash some Spice Girls classics in a medley that people will never forget…especially those that run away, and rightly so.
Max is completely tone deaf, but he is having so much fun, putting so much energy into performing at his worst, that Daniel can’t help but-
fall in love with him.
It’s not some kind of Nirvana he reaches throughout meditation while on a journey to finally accept that he likes fucking with men - as if his Grindr history isn’t proof enough -, rather the sudden grasp on something that has been there all along, although buried so deep he himself had a hard time realizing its true meaning – until he sees Max, his Max, wild and jaunty at a cheap karaoke, singing badly and laughing so hard that tears stream down his sweaty face. This is when Daniel is done for good. You just cannot press the fuck go back button on that, you just let the flow drag you and hope - pray? - for the best.Daniel longs for Max. Max longs for Daniel. Neither of them is ready to acknowledge it and chaos ensues.

“I’m not so drunk that I don’t know what I’m asking you,” Max said.
Charles swallowed the lump in his throat. “Me either.”
“So, is that a yes?”
“Are you sure about this?” Charles asked instead, laughing unbelievably and shaking his head. “This is not something we do, mate.”
“It could be something we do,” Max said, grinning at him. His fingers flexed on Charles’ hip, and it did something weird to Charles’ brain. When he looked back on this moment later, he would blame Max’s big hand on his hip for what he did next.
Because for some reason... Charles kissed him.
He wasn’t sure why.
