the water sloshes around in his lungs, the blood still rushing down his shoulder. his eyes are a lot worse condition than they used to be, clouded over now, blurry even. when it happened, the adrenaline through his body made the water feel tolerable. now it’s just cold. his body, if you could even call it that, slowly becoming colder. rotting. but he can feel it. all the sensations he felt before, he’s gotten used to it. he’s gotten used to them. he’s thankful somehow, that he went the way he did. not like the others. they’ve had it worse somehow. he can’t even stomach to look at owen, geoff or tyler. it makes him feel worse than death itself. they have a plan, for chris. they all have rules to follow. but noah, he doesn’t know if he can follow it. especially when he is only a very small distance out of reach.

As Cody got up, feet so weak he fell to his knees and crawled, he threw his arm back to hit him again, but Duncan looked back at him, blood spilling out his guilty conscience as he gave him the most heartbreaking stare Cody would ever see. Under all of his piercings, juvie scars, melting neon mohawk and bloody nose, he stared at him with guilty eyes begging for forgiveness, he felt it in every fiber of his being.
They were only kids. Cody, in this case, was one unable to let go of a dead summer fling.
