Summary
Having a good heart is not equivalent to doing good things in their line of work.
Blood. Tears. Pieces of organs scattered on the pavement and the floor, either by those psychotic criminals or by the Dominator and yet, Kaveh still insistently holds onto his principles, his kindness and his belief in other people’s good faith.
As his boyfriend, Alhaitham has long accepted this part of Kaveh, but even as Kaveh's hunting dog, he can't stay still when he witnesses Kaveh’s empathy rearing its head again for a latent criminal..
Ultimately, Alhaitham doesn't want Kaveh to slip on the same slope as him, to fall out of the system and suffer the life of an Enforcer.

Kaveh sighs again, and this time his features knit together and he squeezes his eyes shut. “Can you stop being clinical for two minutes and hear what I’m actually asking you?”
“I am listening.” It’s true. “And I do understand.”
“Do you, now?”
“I do.”
Kaveh pinches the bridge of his nose. The frustration there isn’t feigned or overblown—it’s real, deep in the lines of his face and the tension drawing his shoulders. “I’d want you to be here,” he says again, but quieter.
“I will be here,” Alhaitham answers. “And it’ll be with the cure.”
When an expedition gone wrong leaves Kaveh with three days to live, Alhaitham and Cyno fight to find the cure while Tighnari fights to buy them time.
