Summary
After being struck by lightning at the age of eight, Venna ends up on a clearing in the woods whenever she goes to sleep. She meets a masked boy just a few years older and decides to befriend him. Growing up together, both keep thinking the other one can't be real, but a friendship forms nonetheless. Nothing lasts forever but death can be a new beginning, because worlds can't part you forever. [slow build up romance]
Also, in this story Gai and Kakashi's ninken aren't just there for comedic relief or stuff. They have character and deserve their time to 'shine' [in youthfulness *cough*].

“Kinoko.” His voice was tender. How many times had he said her name like that when they were younger? A whisper delivered with a kiss. She’d been spending a lot of time in the clouds since Hotaru’s death, floating in a space between here and there. Memories of their late nights and frenzied touches were hard to avoid. “I have a favor to ask. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t urgent.”
