Percival, who was raised in nobility and has always quietly feared this exact thing his entire life, sets his jaw and nods obediently. "Yes, Father," he says, and then holes himself up in his workshop to drink.

If they can all survive each other long enough to get to it.

“Hellooo? I said Houston, do you copy?”
Caitlyn fiddled with her headset, having finally found the green button on the side and hastily letting out a rather breathless reply. “Um, yes. Hello? This is Houston. I copy.”
There was a long pause in which Caitlyn sat twiddling her thumbs, anxiety pushing the frantic pulse of her heartbeat through her eardrums. Was that wrong? Did she already fuck up? She took a steady deep breath, finger hovering over the talk button until the familiar voice of the astronaut came through her headset once more.
“Damn, Houston. I didn’t expect you to sound so sexy.”

Caitlyn has been assigned as the personal capcom to one of the astronauts currently on a year long expedition at the international space station. Cue long months of pining and desperate longing.

Until Imogen’s mom left when she was nine. And she and her dad had to move away. He told her it was a money thing, but looking back now, as an adult, she knows he was also trying to get away from the place his heart was broken. It’s been almost twenty years since then and she’s recently returned, not expecting to see a familiar face in the bar.
Meanwhile, Laudna never left. She mourned the loss of a friend, but when you’re that young, you move on pretty easily. Occasionally she’d think about the friend she played pretend with, but never for long. Until she bumps into her, literally, at a bar in town with some friends of hers. Different hair, but very much the same person. And she has no idea if she even recognizes her.
