You couldn’t care for someone after those two soul-sucking weeks of either shooting someone in the face or spending hours scrapping their insides from the floors and walls. You couldn’t- You couldn’t, right? But everyone was gone and he was the only one left. If it would’ve been anyone else, like that cheerful man, would you have grown to care about them too? Or was there something special, something peculiarly captivating about Yesenin’s melancholic frown, spite for the world and a bad posture, that combined with his unnatural height surely must have put him through pain every single day? Maybe there was. Or maybe it was a gas leak that turned your brain into mush and reverted your thinking to your teenage years.
Fuck, you just woke up and you’re already exhausted.As the Protagonist, on the 14th day you bunker down in the basement with the only survivng human. And some things develop.

Summary
After an unforeseen event within his home, the Protagonist finds himself completely and utterly alone and in no way capable of defending himself against the encroaching night... and the impending arrival of the Intruder. However, he's in luck (though he wouldn't exactly call it that). The madman who has consistently shown up on the Protagonist's front door step, demanding proof of humanity, has received a gift in the form of a bullet in the shoulder, the result of a crossfire between himself and a residence of suspected Visitors. The Protagonist would much rather have anyone else in his house than that maniac (which is shocking considering his approach to people in general), but he finds himself incredibly surprised at the sudden impulse to carry on with his sad and miserable life.
