Summary
"I am confused,” says Torse, because he is. “Why would Maxwell have a personal investment in my gender?”
“Because he-” starts Olethra, but Marya cuts her off.
“I think this is a conversation for you to have with Gotch in your own time, Torse,” she says. And then “Olethra, stop meddling. You know the rules.”
Olethra pouts. “Fine.”
Torse is barely paying attention to her. There is the palest, prettiest red flush across the bridge of Maxwell's nose, bringing attention to a small white scar on it. He doesn't know the rules that Marya is talking about, but doesn't much care, too distracted by following the pink curve of Maxwell's ears with his gaze, the way his brown-black lashes frame large dark eyes.

Summary
"I think I am tired of destroying things," Torse said slowly. "Of hurting. I want to help grow."
Maxwell's face softened. "Torse, I may not have known you for a long time, but I've known you to do very little destruction without need. Truth be told, I don't think of you as a destroyer at all."
And, well. Torse found himself staring at the ground. What was Torse supposed to do with that?
Torse spends some time reconstructing Zern and then reunites with the crew after Maxwell requests it. It is, funnily enough, through Ludmila that he finds the ability to understand his own issues and reservations. There is some dancing and sparring involved.

Summary
He has learned this lesson. He has. He can want companionship, and accept allyship. He can want trust, and accept tolerance. He can want solace, and accept shelter.
(He can want worthiness for iron, and accept gold.)
He knows better than to ask for more than he’s offered. He knows how to want so quietly no one else ever hears it. Torse is painfully aware that the transaction ends when the hand retracts.
He tightens one fist around the other, substituting pressure for heat.

Or, Torse asks for what he wants. And gets it. (Physical affection. From Maxwell, specifically.)Bookmarked by blakeway

Summary
Of all the problems that Evan Kelmp has had in his life, the one he currently has is definitely the strangest. It’s not a particularly complex problem, it has a root issue that’s easy enough to define. The part about it that makes it a problem is that he can’t resolve the problem without putting a lot on the line or making a major and not particularly favourable life change first, to lessen the amount on the line if his attempt to fix the problem doesn’t go the way he wishes for it to go.
This leaves him aware that he has a problem, capable of defining the problem, and helpless to actually do anything about it.
OR
Evan has an extremely hot roommate and ends up in a slightly confusing, absolutely wonderful situationship.
