“Wouldn’t God love anyone, Han? Don’t you think he would love you no matter what?” she says one day. Hannah likes to think He would, but she’s not sure. She’s spent a lot of time asking herself the same question. She responds with that, and Baker looks at her for a long minute, an odd look in her eye, before changing the topic. Hannah feels sick to her stomach the entire rest of the day.
