Summary
Phil is just an ordinary 15-year-old from Manchester. He keeps his mum company, he reads his books, and he does his best to avoid the constant reminders of the bombs that fall on the city every night.
Dan has always lived on his dad’s farm down south. he keeps to himself and is just trying to make it through the next few years so he can get out of his small, lonely village.
Phil is sent to stay with Dan, who is not happy at all to be sharing his room with some random northern evacuee. In the end, it's really not that bad.
(fun fact: the keep calm and carry on poster was never actually released during the war. they tried to get rid of every copy but then some guy just found one and it became the face of 'blitz spirit' in england)
