Sunlight halos behind his captain’s head, lighting golden straw ablaze, almost too bright to look at. Sanji’s eyes water. Luffy places a hand on his head, gentle fingers against his scalp. Says, “Sanji was bein’ pretty stupid earlier.”
“I’m sorry, Captain,” Sanji breathes, leaning forward into Luffy’s touch. “Won’t happen again.” When did he shift from sitting to kneeling? It feels wrong to move, though. It’s only right to kneel before one’s captain, one’s king.
