Ben’s little café was known as the go-to spot on campus and it didn’t hurt that the young owner was easy on the eyes. He enjoyed the all-female attention, especially after being around men mostly for months at a time. He flirted and gave the odd smirk that he knew would get him more tips.
That all changed the first time he laid eyes on her.
Rey. Like a ray of light. She had come near closing, soaking wet from the downpour outside with fresh tears in her expressive green eyes.
She was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

Rey Jones’ goal in life is to collect her paycheck while not doing more than the strict minimum at work. She doesn’t mind occasionally going out with her coworkers in the process; it doesn’t happen too often, and most of them are pretty okay people.
Ben Solo, however, is a colleague she’ll never get to know even remotely, as he always declines his coworkers’ invitations.
Susmita Warsi, meanwhile, thinks that if Rey Jones were to ask him out personally, Ben Solo would make an exception.

The prompt was: "Regency/Victorian AU, Ben sees Rey's stockinged ankle by accident, Rey notices this and challenges him more in public by showing a bit more leg, wearing lower necklines, etc. Being the gentleman that he is, Ben refuses to touch Rey unless she agrees to marry him. My only excuse for what follows is that I was exposed to Victorian pornographic fiction at a young and impressionable age.

Rey always picks up the stray dogs that she sees. She can’t bear to leave them by the road, scavenging and waiting for their family to come back. When she sees a dog get hit by a car on her way home from work, she goes to help and brings it home.
