I'm barely halfway finished with this and I already know it's among one of the most fucked up things I've ever read. In fact I am currently sitting in the corner of the club at 3am reading this and I think I am losing it a little bit.
EDIT: Oh man. Oh man oh man. Wow. What a fucked up piece of work. I feel gutted. Finished this the morning after, delirious but desperate to know the outcome -- it was clear that this fic was always going to be an exploration of what it means to come home to the person you love, but I was continuously wowed by how masterfully all the strings were threaded together with the most elegant wordcraft. There's a really similar fic for shuake P5 ('The next time around' by chashmish) that I love with not too similar of a premise, but a very similar care and delicacy around what it means to love someone unconditionally. Beyond time. Beyond flaws, pain, memory. I'm jealous, really. The kind of devotion and love that this fic and others similar to it explore... I can't even describe it as beautiful. It's much more than that. Something we should all aspire to, perhaps. Or something to continuously yearn for.

Front and centre was Naruto, wearing his trademark orange and a huge grin. Still boyish and round, he couldn't have been more than eighteen.
A rice farmer. Naruto was a rice farmer.
(Or, the AU where Sasuke returns after eight years away to discover that Konoha has changed, Naruto is a surprisingly adept rice farmer, and he have missed him a lot more than he thought.)
