A statement released in July, 2022 on the official Centaurs social media channels:
"In October of last year, Shane and Ilya became temporary foster parents to one of the students that had participated in the Irina Foundation's hockey camps after he was abandoned by his birth parents for coming out as queer. Since then they have pursued first permanent foster placement and adoption. That adoption was granted and finalized this month. Mac Hollander-Rozanov has been in many pictures that, with his permission, are being re-edited and re-uploaded to remove the emojis that were used to protect his identity in accordance with the government's guidelines."
An additional paragraph added to a photo Ilya and Shane shared to their personal Instagrams:
"Family looks different for everyone, and our family is no different. Mac is our son, and we are so incredibly proud of him and his achievements. We hope that the hockey community will be as respectful of him as they are of other children of players."

Los “Amores eternos” o también llamados “Almas gemelas”. Son amores más viejos que la memoria, amores que han vivido mil vidas; amores que, en su bendición y maravilla, causaron la caída de imperios, muerte y pena. Entonces como castigo y para no olvidar el poder que tiene el amor, fueron separados y condenados a buscarse hasta que el dolor los reúna y al por fin tomarse de la mano puedan volver a estar juntos.
Eso decía la leyenda, porque en la realidad no sucedían.
Para Colin Bridgerton, los amores eternos eran un mito usado para justificar que las personas solteras no pudieran tomarse de las manos ni llamarse por su nombre si no eran familia. Y para Penélope Featherington, las almas gemelas eran solamente un tema interesante de leer, cuentos románticos de personas destinadas a sentir el dolor de su otra mitad y marcas plateadas en las muñecas.
