My own personal spin on the X-Men origin story. An AU that incorporates elements and remixes plotlines from the movieverse and various comics continuities. No prior knowledge of canon required.

Summary
Carol looks Kris in the eye, and she says “you’re going to help me find her.” Sharper than she intends. It cuts her throat on the way out, the loss of December. Kris is crying. So is Carol. So should all of Hometown, loss so heavy it taunts her from its place in her stomach. She couldn’t protect her little fawn. What is she supposed to do now? What is there to do now?
Find her, her heart screams, pounding against her chest. Bring her home. She will, she will, she will.
