tucked in the back corner of the third nightstand drawer on ilya’s side of the bed is a simple black leather collar. the clasps on either side are gold to match the chain linking in the middle, and the matching leash sits underneath it. there are small gold studs along the middle of the collar, slightly pointed at the tips which feel good against shane’s fingers. the inside of the collar is embroidered with a gold thread that reads ‘property of shane hollander’ that when pressed in just the right way leaves an imprint of the words on ilya’s throat.
with the way the week has been trending, shane wagers that he’s going to have to break the collar out soon.

when they’re curled up together on the couch during the week, with shane’s feet tucked under ilya’s thighs and his glasses on while they make their grocery lists, Ilya thinks he’s beautiful.
when shane races down the ice on a breakaway, leaving the opposing team behind and netting a slapshot top corner of the goal to score, Ilya also thinks he’s beautiful.
a sleepy shane that is burrowed under their blankets with just a tuft of black hair sticking out while he looks up at ilya is beautiful.
shane, flushed and gesturing with his hands and a raised voice as he gets onto Ilya for not getting his socks into the hamper even though he’s told him countless times before, is still beautiful.

shane pauses in the process of finishing off his second piece of toast, the bread halfway to his mouth as he blinks at Ilya a few times. “but-”
“no,” ilya’s voice is low but firm, and he reaches his free hand out to nudge shane’s towards his mouth and waits until the other takes another bite before he continues. “you want to be good, yes?”
shane nods almost immediately, the flush on his cheeks darkening to a deeper pink as he does so. “of course. but we need-”
“to be good boy, that means that you will listen. you trust me to take care of you.”

“i hate this,” ilya mumbles, his hand trailing up shane’s back to push his hair away from his face as he pouts. “is annoyance.”
shane hums sympathetically as he shifts on the bed, and he sits up in order to swing his leg over ilya’s hips, settling in the cradle of them; one of his hands settles on ilya’s chest as the other presses gently on his bad wrist- not enough to hurt, just enough to make a point.
“well, how about this? if you can keep this hand-” shane taps ilya’s wrist pointedly again as he speaks, “-right here, then I’ll do something to take your mind off of it.”
