Summary
Eddie loves Christmas, and Loch Nora has the best lights in the whole damn city.
His van is crunching lazily along the snow covered streets when it catches his eye, a clashing smudge of dissimilarity that sets his brain buzzing again.
The Harrington house is a blot of blackness on an otherwise merrily twinkling street. No lights on the rafters, no decorations in the yard, no wreaths on the door. All of the windows are dark except for one on the second story, a dull glow with a slash of violent yellow where the curtains aren’t quite pulled shut.
*
Or, Steve is alone for Christmas. Eddie decides to change that.

Summary
“Jesus, how much did you drink?” Mike frowns. He hadn’t been counting them up or anything — he’s not Will’s keeper — but he’s sure it couldn’t have been enough for him to be acting like this. They’d been out on the trail for just a couple of hours, and whatever shitty booze Dustin had managed to wheedle off Steve probably didn’t surpass an ABV of 20% anyway. Will holds up a clumsy hand and, squinting in concentration, puts up four fingers. He lowers one after a moment, frowns, then puts it back up again. “Okay,” Mike says, after four does not turn back into three. “So you’re kind of a lightweight. Good to know.”
Will huffs, a sharp, irritated noise. “I’m not that drunk,” he says — a blatant lie.
The Party partakes in Camp Whiteman's (unofficial) first-year counselor traditions, and Mike partakes in being designated babysitter.

Summary
“You’ve really never?” Will asks, finally pulling a box of matches out of his pocket, not the lighter Mike had been expecting. He tips the box of Marlboros out towards Mike again, and this time, he takes one, trying to pretend like the subtle weight of it is not as foreign in his hand as it feels. “Not even once?”
“No,” Mike says, trying to figure out whether he should be getting defensive or not. “Why? Is it that hard to believe?”
“I just figured, you know, it’s easier to bum a smoke off of somebody than it is to get your hands on some booze,” Will says thoughtfully. He tucks the cigarettes back into his pocket and plants both hands on the stack of hay behind him, taking a careful step onto the bale already resting by their feet — and then, when it holds his weight, he hoists himself up, legs swinging. “And you’ve done that, so.”
Will sneaks out for a smoke break. Mike decides to join him.

Summary
“Are you offended that people think we’re dating?”
“No,” Mike says immediately. “Of course not,” because, again, he should be so lucky.
Will’s baffled expression does not change. “Then why would I be?”
“So– okay, fine, whatever. Should we, like, tell them to get their heads out of their asses and that we’re not– um– dating, or–”
“I think,” Will cuts in, “well. You know what would be funny?”
Honestly, Mike doesn't know what he thought being Will Byers' fake-boyfriend would entail, but he definitely didn't think it would involve this many ugly Christmas sweaters.
