It’s one of the rare occasions where Buck has a day off work that Eddie doesn’t also take off, and Eddie is…. fine with that.
Totally fine.
Buck is spending the day with his boyfriend, allowing them to have a full seventy two hours off shared together, and frankly, Eddie has seen enough of the two of them as a couple. He doesn’t need to be there.
Only, a few hours into the shift, Eddie gets a call from Tommy.

Summary
“I don’t think Cap is gonna make room in the house budget for scratch and sniff stickers, pal,” Chim teases after Buck recounts the grape sticker tale.
“Probably not,” Buck agrees.
He’ll notice later when he’s doing his and Eddie’s budget spreadsheet that there’s a new charge at a sticker store, and he’ll smile to himself as he counts how lucky he is to have someone who listens to all his stories and hears all the things he doesn’t ask for out loud.
Or, Eddie gets off on Buck’s infodumps.

“It-it sounds like you need to hide a body or something else illegal, Tommy,” Buck says and loves how Tommy laughs. God, he missed this laugh.
“No,” Tommy shakes his head, but then frowns, “nothing like that. I need help with your special skills. You know,” Tommy moves his eyebrows, but Buck just looks at him blankly.
That’s when Tommy makes the gesture Buck loves to use, when he summons his powers and makes fire appear. Buck showed him. The only person except Eddie, who he showed. And Eddie only knows because man saw how Buck touched the fire and stopped it by absorbing all of its energy.
“Oh,” Buck nods, “you need to set something on fire?”
Tommy chuckles, “you’re adorable, when you’re confused. And no, not set something on fire. I need you to absorb the warmth and energy that fire left on me. Heal my burns. You said you can do it.”
or Buck has fire powers after the lighning strike, but nothing really changes in his life

“Maddie,” Buck sobs, jolting slightly at the force of it.
“Buck? Is that you?”
“Mmm,” Buck whines pitifully.
“What’s going on? Are you hurt?”
“Yes!” Buck exclaims. “He— I can’t—”
There’s a bit of frantic typing on Maddie’s end. “Breathe. Just breathe. Is it the baby? Tell me what happened.”
“He’s cheating on me.” Buck’s heart nearly splits in two as he says it.
