Beomgyu’s expression softens, and he cups Kai's cheek gently, his thumb swiping over his cheekbone feather-light. “I know, Kai-yah.”
He fights the urge to lean into the touch. He has no right. “You don’t have to take care of me all the time, or baby me still.”
What Beomgyu says next takes his breath away. “What if I want to?”

Summary
Technically, there isn’t anything wrong with it. Nothing wrong with the way Yeonjun waves the sunscreen bottle like it’s a treat, and almost automatically, Beomgyu drifts towards him like a hungry dog—no words necessary. There’s nothing wrong with the way Beomgyu hooks a finger into the collar of Yeonjun’s robe and watches as it slides all the way down his skin like water, revealing the wide expanse of his back and the narrow taper of his waist. Definitely nothing wrong with the way Yeonjun shivers at the feel of Beomgyu’s palms sliding down on him slowly, firmly, and deliberately.
It’s just a part of the job, Beomgyu tries to convince himself.

Summary
Yeonjun thought that he was in love with Beomgyu, once. Back in college. So naive. Now he's almost thirty, and he knows that love comes with pain and sacrifice. That's why his wife has left and won't tell him when she's coming home, that's why his daughter who adores him accidentally destroys everything she touches.
Love is more raw and real and emotional than anything that Yeonjun ever felt with Beomgyu. He still misses him, though. Life was simple back then.
(Life becomes a smidge more complicated when the idea of divorce appears on the horizon, and when Yeonjun meets his daughter's brand-new preschool teacher, who has a very different outlook on what happened between them seven years ago.)

Summary
If there is a spectrum that covers the majority of friendships, Soobin wonders where this falls onto it.
Yeonjun has done a lot for him in the past, within reason. He’s brushed his teeth and changed his clothes for him. He’s kept secrets and promised not to let anyone else know whenever he’s seen him cry. They’ve snuck snacks and drinks out on late nights and kept quiet about it for weeks afterwards.
Yeonjun has done a lot for him, without the worry that he’s done too much or that Soobin will try and make him do more. It’s an endless sort of kindness. The kind that comes from a bottomless pit.
But for Soobin to ask him to pin him to a wall and get him off— and for Yeonjun to oblige with no hesitation— he can’t help but wonder.
Is this something friends should do for each other?
