Summary
Jean ends up wandering the apartment trying to imagine what it’ll look like after six months of being there. Jab trots behind him like a little shadow, sniffing at corners and occasionally sneezing. He seems to be handling the move well so far, at least.
“Does it feel weird?” Jeremy asks, leaning against the kitchen island and watching with eyes that Jean can feel even with his back turned.
“A little,” Jean admits.
Jeremy tilts his head to the side and fresh blonde hair falls into his eyes. He looks frustratingly beautiful, even more than usual, but Jean’s not sure how much of that is the touched-up hair and how much of it is knowing he has his own place with this man. “Bad weird? Good weird?”
“Good weird,” Jean says easily, and that makes Jeremy’s dimples appear.
Jean signs with California after graduating from USC and moves into a new apartment with Jeremy down in San Diego. The realization of how much future they suddenly have hits both of them.

“Nothing,” Jean says, and glances up to catch Jeremy’s gaze. His eyes are soft, a little sad. “Nothing is wrong. It’s just—my sister. She used to love this song.”

Jean rubs his cheek against him again. It’s a silly habit he only ever seems to do when he’s very sleepy or very drunk. Then he stops, still resting against Jeremy’s jacket. When Jean looks up at Jeremy, he remembers just how big and sad Jean’s eyes can get when he really turns them on him.
“Stay with me,” Jean whispers. “Don’t go back to San Diego.”
Jeremy comes home between games with his professional team and takes care of Jean when he drinks at a party. It turns out they both miss each other more than they've been admitting.

But hopefully he wasn't a mob boss like some people suggested.

Jean shivers as Jeremy sucks, and bites lightly, just once, on the hinge of his jaw before soothing it with his tongue. He tenses slightly at the idea of teeth on his neck which threatens to derail him, but instead Jeremy trails his way back to Jean's mouth. A rush of affection floods him, with Jeremy so aware of his boundaries and he sighs softly into the kiss, bringing him in closer by the waist.
"You know, there are other places to leave hickies," Jeremy suggests, nosing at the hem of Jean's shirt to mouth at his collarbone. "Places no one has to see."
"Like where?" Jean asks, trying to find his voice again.

Jean mistakes Laila's hickies for bruises and Jeremy teaches him all about the art of hickies.

Jean almost protests at the sudden loss of touch, but that’s pretty pathetic, so luckily it dies in his throat before he can make any sound. Instead, he watches Jeremy riffle around in his bag with a little too much enthusiasm. “You mean this?”
And sure enough, when he turns back to Jean, he’s holding that infernal yo-yo.
Jean picks Jeremy up from therapy on his bike and takes him to the park. Jean quickly remembers that his boyfriend is a loser.
