Michael just smiled, glancing between the two of them.

“It was you,” Crowley realized, half rage, half grief. Michael just smiled wider.

“What?” Aziraphale looked back and forth between them. “What do you mean? What are you talking about?”
    Crowley swallowed, his jaw clenching.

“The plane crash,” Crowley said in a strained voice. “The lightning,” he explained, even though he knew he didn’t need to. Aziraphale understood already. He just didn’t want to. “It was her.”

“And that means we can’t throw bread at them anymore?” Crowley raised one eyebrow, then tossed another piece of crust toward the ducks in defiance. By the time it hit the water it was a handful of frozen peas, and Aziraphale huffed, frustrated.

“Yes, now will you please stop that?”

“Not until you tell me why,” the next chunk he threw was larger, and changed to rain of corn. The ducks quacked in annoyance.

    Summary

    Rage needs an outlet.

And she found the demon first.

Off-script, off-stage, off-kilter, War smashed through the glass store-front of a London bakery, sending people running and debris flying, snatching a particularly large shard of glass out of the air as she moved. Crowley was already scampering backward, but War was on him, hand at his throat and glass shard to his stomach. She picked him up without breaking stride, walking him back until she had him against a wall, feet scrambling for purchase where they barely touched the floor.

“You,” she growled, her voice closer to the rough roll of truck tires on broken roads than to anything human. “A little birdie told me it was your fault.”

    Summary

Just the vague aura of “this is a demon’s residence, very dangerous, stay away,” was usually enough to keep anyone a little too curious about the contents of the flat from taking a peek inside.

Unfortunately, after having its occupant spend so much time away from it in recent months, the flat’s aura had diminished considerably. In fact, it had diminished to the point that when Crowley went to unlock the door one evening, having decided that a nap was in order after a particularly long round of drinking at the bookshop, he found that the door was already unlocked. Furthermore, it had swung inward slightly after having part of the doorframe pried off. So, unlocked in a certain sense of the word.

    Summary

“Alright,” Crowley turned to Aziraphale, determinedly ignoring the angel’s soft smile. “Take the kid, I’ll go find the parents.”
Crowley made no move to offer the child.
“Crowley, you cannot be serious,” Aziraphale's smile dropped into an expert frown of disapproval. “There is a reason you were the nanny, my dear. Just… watch the boy for a moment, and I will go locate the parents.” He began to walk away before Crowley could sputter out a protest.

    Summary

Aziraphale’s vision whites out. He can’t see. Can’t hear anything but that last word echoing in his head.
    “Angel.” A plea.
    “Angel.” A prayer.
    “Angel!” An accusation.
