Then, Soren did the most horrifying and exciting thing Corvus had ever seen: he grabbed the arms of Terry’s chair, turning it a rough 90 degrees to face him, then leaned in close and gave the elf a piece of his mind. At first, he wasn’t sure why it had shocked and bothered him so much. After all, it was just a display of (mostly) rightful anger.

The seal to the World of Shadows had been closed once more. Seeing the door to the prison of a world closed in a flash of bright golden light felt to Zeha like the entire city of Sin-si breathing a sigh of relief. He'd felt elated until his eyes reached Haru, whose body was cold and lifeless on the ground. His gray eyes were wide open but paler than usual.
Frantically, Zeha had waded through the blackened and destroyed District 1 to his apartment building. In the only undisturbed apartment on the floor, Zeha laid Haru down carefully, hoping his appearance was only a cruel farce.

Summary
It's April of 1817 and with the War of 1812 behind him, Alfred must set his sights on further establishing himself as a nation both at home and abroad. An opportunity to affirm his presence to the European nations arises when he is sent, along with a fellow named Richard Keaton, on a diplomatic mission to London where he must learn to charm and rub shoulders with the notorious Regency-era society.
The task proves daunting when Alfred realizes he is very ill-equipped for such a task and runs into the very person he hoped to avoid during his stay: England. Between the glares of the ton and the confusing behavior of his former companion, Alfred must find a way to ensure his mission is a success.
