Summary
It all began with Mizuki's partially coherent ramblings at 5:47 PM, which was usually the norm for N25's outings.

Mafuyu felt impartial to the concept of going to a fall festival, but there was one part of Mizuki's explanation that messed with her head.
"Apple... orchard."
The sheer mention of apples forced Mafuyu to remember a pleasant childhood memory from a not-so-pleasant parent figure that she really couldn't handle thinking about right now, especially without Kanade home to reassure her. It wasn't time to worry about her. Not here. Not right now. I don't want to think about it.

Yuki’s hand jostles her shoulder roughly. “Mizuki.”
“Ah—Yuki!” she yelps, jolting upright. Her eyes burst open expecting to be greeted by the sight of her older sister and her signature pink bracelet.
Except, there is no pink bracelet. And that’s definitely not her sister.
“Mafuyu?” Mizuki gasps, incredulous. Her gaze sweeps over the girl from her dark purple hair to her shoes. “You scared me! A warning would have been nice, ya’ know.”
“Sorry. You weren’t getting up,” Mafuyu says, taking a step back. “Good morning.”
“Good—“ Mizuki yawns, covering her mouth—“morning.” Like puzzle pieces slotting into place, her surroundings slowly assemble together. She’s not in her bedroom at all; she’s still on the highway bus she and her friends boarded yesterday. A bus which has stopped and that they need to get off of because as painful as getting up early is, waking up to only be back in Tokyo would undoubtedly be worse.
Meaning, their month-long trip around Japan has begun.Or: Nightcord at 25:00, a journey around Japan over summer break, and how they grow even closer.

When she rounds the corner, she stumbles to a stop, gasping for air, for comprehension. “Mi—Mizuki?” she asks weakly.
Because it’s her. Mizuki is there, crouched with her back to the wall. And when she looks up, Ena flinches.
There’s blood leaking from the corner of her eyes, which remain closed. Mizuki isn’t looking directly at her—only toward the sound of her voice. “E-Ena?” she whispers, voice small and shaky.
Or: A week after Ena’s confrontation with Mizuki at the cultural festival, Mizuki goes missing in the sekai. And something is deeply wrong when they find her.

Mafuyu finds herself in a gas station, somehow. She meets an artist with sunken eyes who smells of smoke.
That's how it starts.
The road to healing is paved with the broken girl of music, the lonely runaway and the despair of an artistAlternatively, alternate universe where n25 is meeting for the first time after mafuyu starts an impromptu roadtrip (runs away). Much more mental illness than canon.
