    ❝Talk to me, please.❞ Carina begged softly, pleading desperately for her wife to snap out of whatever trance she was in. Maya was warm, beads of sweat on her pale forehead. Her eyes were glazed over, and her body was trembling furiously.

    Just before Carina could ask what was wrong and why Maya wasn’t answering her, Maya’s shaky body slumped against hers. At first, Carina thought it was a hug. But as more weight was added all at once, Carina realized that something was very wrong.

She put the bottle back in the backpack and handed the tablets to her wife, giving her a sip out of her water bottle. Carina huffed, rubbing the swell of her stomach, feeling the flutter of small kicks on her right side, that being the side where the baby tended to favor at the moment. “She’s sitting on my bladder.” She grumbled, and Maya gave her a sympathetic smile, reaching out and rubbing her belly for her, trying to calm her wife’s nerves for a bit to get her settled at the very least.
