“I really wish I had met you while still alive,” Caitlyn’s suddenly serious tone brought Vi back from her own thoughts.

“You keep saying that,” Vi said quietly.

    “I keep meaning it.”

Another silence fell between them before Vi gained enough courage to speak again. “Well, you have me now. Would it really have been that much better if we had met when we were alive?”

    “Yes.”

    ***

Vi never really thought about how she would die. She just hoped it would be heroic or at least kind of cool.
Instead, she dies in a car crash. At the fucking age of twenty-four.

But Vi isn't the only one who dies that day.

Caitlyn wasn't ready for death. She still had so much she wanted to accomplish. But it was all cut short in that single moment of impact.

Now they're both stuck living like ghosts. Unable to let go of their loved ones and move on (and what does 'moving on' even mean?). But perhaps even in loss, something beautiful can be found.

    Summary

Caitlyn observes from the wall as Vi runs the routine, then comes over. She touches Vi’s lower back. Pushes, gently, guiding Vi through a rotation of her hips. Vi’s lower half lights up like a fork in a socket.

“It comes from here,” Caitlyn says. “Not so much the legs. Try it.”

Vi misses Caitlyn’s hand when she steps away. She follows the phantom push until she’s completed the sequence.

Tilting her head, Caitlyn says, “Better, but you’re stiff. Do you feel sexy?”

Vi’s been surrounded by gorgeous women every day, women with bouncier hair, longer legs, more graceful relevés. And instead of admiring them, she’s competing with them. So, no. Vi does not feel sexy.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders AU. Vi's trying out for the most elite cheer team in the country, but even a lifetime of dance couldn't prepare her for what she finds in Dallas: fierce competition, unrealistic beauty standards, and an unfortunate crush on cheer captain Caitlyn.

    Summary

Vi should have been humiliated, dangling in the arms of an Enforcer like this. But her head was muddied, and she could taste blood where her breathing grew rough, and Caitlyn’s support was the only thing keeping her upright, and she found herself leaning into her, head lolling against her shoulder a little. It was the pain. It was the blood loss. It had to have been. Why else would she have felt so safe?

    Summary

    Catra woke slowly.

Senses returned to her one by one, and the re-acquisition of each came with its own profound sense of regret. There was a coppery, unpleasant smell mixed with the wild scents of earth and sweat. Hearing—well, that wasn’t working too well. All she could hear was a distant ringing and the repeating echo of a deafening crack, trapped within her mind.

Pain, though, that was working just fine.

    ---

What do you get when you mix a broken runestone, two injured ex-best friends, and the bottom of a canyon that may or may not be full of things that want to kill you? Answer: a lot of pain, but maybe, just maybe, reconciliation.

    If they last that long.

    Summary

"As soon as she saw who the client was, her words died in her throat. Her drink slipped out of her hand a second later, but Catra couldn’t bring herself to care about the stain it would leave in the carpet.

Across the table from her boss, wearing a perfectly-tailored suit that looked more expensive than most of Catra’s tuition payments, was Adora.

As in, that Adora. The one Catra dated for all of college.

The one that broke her heart four and a half weeks before graduation.

The one that, according to what she’d said on the last day Catra had seen her, had fallen out of love with her."

Or, six years ago, Adora and Catra were college students in love. Then, in one fateful meeting at a coffee shop, Adora broke Catra's heart.

Now Catra's a junior partner at a law firm handling a patent dispute for Adora's family company. The two of them have to re-enter the other's life in an attempt for closure, catharsis, and connection.
