Jack didn’t understand the “what ifs” when it came to trivial matters. As far as Davey knew, he was probably the only one in the world who did. He hated that he focused on it so much, when he knew he should just be thankful to be going back to school in the first place. He didn’t want Jack to think that he was ungrateful or selfish, but he also didn’t want for his brain to constantly sow seeds of doubt in him either.
