It's been six years since Montparnasse last set foot in Paris, at first he doesn't know how he'll manage to cross the state border without stopping to die a little. As it is, Gueulemer is driving so he doesn't really have to worry much. When they stop at a gas station just on the outskirts of the city, Montparnasse takes a deep breath, opens the car door, sets foot to ground, and, surprisingly, the world doesn't explode.

“Can I just ask…. And this is not a criticism, because lord knows we need more Victorian-esque gay letter exchanging in the world. But have you ever heard of phones?”
There’s only so much you can do when your boyfriend-but-not-really suddenly announces out that he’s going abroad for a year. Writing him a letter is, on all accounts, a pretty good start.
