“Do you regret giving me that syringe? Is that what this is?” Levi asks, following him confrontationally. He’s trembling, a collection of injuries all beading sweat at his brow, the gear cutting lines into his skin. He’s not - this isn’t how he imagined this.
“Do you regret giving it to me?” Erwin throws back.
And for a split second, Levi can’t fully answer because goddamn - Arlert was a good kid. He was head strong but he was sincere, he was whip smart and - and Erwin deserved to go out how he lived. He deserved a rest not - not the knowledge their situation is bleak, that the world his father idealised is just as bad as them. He deserved the legacy those books he’d so constantly read spoke off - heroes, heroes. Erwin should be a hero and Levi - Levi just wanted to see him again.
