That was...what? Eleven years ago now? My, my, how time flies when you're having...fun.
He'd almost forgotten about Thoma for a while. Once the blond moved overseas to live with his dad in Inazuma, they spoke over letters as penpals or emailed occasionally until everything seemed to crash and burn in Alberich's life. Of course, he still saw Thoma on TV and even at international competitions...but they never spoke, too busy, and too much time had passed...whatever excuse Kaeya's brain came up with that caused him to pack up as soon as he could, or conveniently need to refill his water at the fountain.
It's kind of funny when you think about it. Someone can go from being your best friend, skating partner, and second home to being a stranger who's voice you could recognize just about anywhere. What'll happen once they meet again?

He's come a long, long way, in some regards.
Dino steps out onto the set, cold eyes already focused on Ash, and Ash's blood turns to ice.
Other things haven't changed much. Not really.
Dino puts a hand on Ash's shoulder, and Ash stares at the same cracks in the floor that he memorized years ago.
Yeah. Some things haven't changed at all.
Ash is a model at an agency owned by Dino Golzine, and he's accepted his role as the star—including everything that comes with. But when Eiji comes on as a contract photographer, suddenly Ash isn't quite as afraid to be in front of the camera. Of course, caring about Eiji also means he has more to lose.
