Annabeth raised an eyebrow, “And how would you do that?”
“With this.” Perseus held up the lyre he had been holding down at his side.
She scoffed, “Are you always this confident?”
He shrugged, giving a lopsided grin, “When I look at you, I am.”

In other words, Annabeth is a hungry young girl and Perseus is a poor boy working on a song. And, because fate is cruel, they fall in love.
