Summary
The beer in Steve's system made him feel warm and fuzzy- or was it, Eddie? He didn't know anymore.
"So, uh, Steevie- You just happened to have that ol' spare bedroom spiffed up and ready?" Eddie tried to start a conversation as they made their way up the stairs of the Harringtons' house.
Steve huffed, and shrugged his shoulders, "I jus' keep it ready. In case someone wan' to stay. I jus' want someone to stay..." His last sentence trails off, and his throat starts to feel heavy like something is lodged in there and he can't breathe properly. His vision was getting foggy. He was too far gone to care that he was crying.
Eddie watched as Steve's hazel eyes became cloudy with tears. What was he supposed to say? What was he supposed to do? "What do you mean Harrington? There are plenty of people to keep you company." Eddie supported more of his weight as they climbed the last stair and headed into Steve's bedroom. Eddie made a beeline for Steve's bed, laying him down gently and sitting beside him. Steve sighed through his nose, "nuh-uh. Liar. They all leave me." He melted into his comforter.
Eddie frowned, rubbing his back, "You're not alone pretty boy. I'll never leave you alone."
