"I know, Min-su," Se-mi was saying. He was dimly aware of her voice behind the steady pounding of blood in his ears. "But we have to play. We have to play the game or they're going to kill us."
Min-su coughed to clear his throat, digging his nails into his thighs just enough to push down the panic bubbling up in his throat. "It- it's okay, Se-mi. Really. If it's you... I mean, if it's you, I don't mind." His voice sounded different somehow. Steadier. At least, he hoped it did.
He watched her face flush, her lips slightly parting. After a few seconds of silence, she cracked an incredulous smile that gave way to a laugh only slightly edged with hysteria. "Okay, then. What the hell. Let's play."
