Izuku let out a long-suffering exhale. “I beg your pardon?”
“You forgot Hero Dynamight over your girlfriend,” Kota continued. “That means that he’s… he’s the love of your life.”
Kota’s cheeks reddened like he was embarrassed about what he had just said. Izuku stared at him. He didn’t know a Hero Dynamight. But there were a lot of heroes he didn’t know. The world was a big place, after all.
“You grew up together,” Kota barrelled on. “You tell us all the time how the two of you are friends. He guest lectures here sometimes. You… you don’t know who I’m talking about?”
Izuku swallowed hard as he looked at Kota’s face. If this were any other student, he wouldn’t believe it. But Kota wasn’t the type to joke or kid around, especially not with something of this magnitude.
Izuku accidentally gets hit with one of his students' quirks and temporarily forgets the love of his life - who is not, as it turns out, his current girlfriend.

“I—I wanted to see Kacchan.”
“You saw him. Here he is.”
Katsuki swings his free arm in a wide arc. Izuku’s eyes follow it. From the kitchen, to the All Might poster on the wall, to the UA graduation picture of him and Izuku smiling under the cherry blossoms that sits in a small frame on his bookshelf. There are more things he hasn’t bothered to unpack yet, gathering dust in cardboard boxes in the back of his closet. These were the most important. Katsuki has to be careful about where he puts his limited energy these days.
Or, Katsuki plans to spend his Christmas Eve by himself. It doesn’t quite go that way.

The familiar challenge should make Katsuki’s competitive spirit roar to life in his chest. It feels dimmed now, flickering under the ice that still hasn’t let go of his insides. Still, he manages to reply, “I’d like to see you try.”

Summary
Katsuki is not the same person he was when Izuku first left to study magic with the elves, and he’s determined to make sure Izuku knows that before he brings him home and before he ascends the throne of his kingdom.
Eijirou is a still somewhat of a stranger in Katsuki’s world with much to learn about living here, which he plans to do for quite a long time, but he’s happy to fight by his side and travel across the sea for a secret bit of business Katsuki won’t tell him about, and he’s even happier to meet Katsuki’s mysterious friends.
Izuku has spent his whole life knowing that he and Katsuki will one day be married, but the gods did not bless him with the strength of their people, and if he doesn’t learn how to fight in his own way, the people will never accept him as an equal to their king.
Shouto has spent the last fifteen years watching over Izuku and teaching him along with his family, but the time for Izuku to return to the human lands has finally come, and a part of him is worried for him, but another part, a quiet and selfish part, is afraid of being alone.

worldbuilding, storytelling, characterization in this is so good it's absurd. feels so real. reminds me of some of my favorite fantasy worlds (ffx, dai) in how everything fills me with wonder and awe and makes me want to explore and know more. so well-done.
this iteration of eijirou will have a special place in my heart for always, i think. i love him, i love his history and his personality and the way he speaks and the way he is written. i find myself excitedly smiling every time his POV comes up.
and the love in this... so breathtaking. loyal and unwavering and faithful from day one, my favorite flavor of love... tears and visceral pangs in my chest at the declarations of devotion, the soft assurances, the fuckin yearning... love is real and it is this...
