Summary
They drink; they dance; they make love at home and kiss in the streets; Xiao Zhan lets strangers shout at him in French he can hardly follow while Yibo’s called up for another round at the bar, singing lustily with his arms draped over the shoulders of innumerable friends. They speak of going to Italy, to the seaside, to Versailles; they spend whole days in bed drunk on nothing but the taste of each other, the empty wine bottle rolling away on the floor.
It seems like only hours pass, or centuries. Xiao Zhan’s always lived here, or else it’s a dream he might wake from at any moment. He studies the language, poring over a phrase book until Yibo tugs him away, back into the glittering monde. Yibo’s never studied a phrase book in his life.
“Come on, we’re missing it.” The dance, the drink, the world.
