Across centuries, Dean lives briefly, dies young, and returns without memory, leaving the same angel behind to carry the weight of loving and losing him each time. Castiel learns to survive the grief, until the year 2005, when Dean lives past the death that should have claimed him, and the pattern finally breaks.
Refusing to fall in love again, Castiel asks Dean to leave the life he knows and follow the truth of his own repeating soul through forgotten places and fractured time. Hope, once kindled, becomes the most dangerous thing of all.
