Eddie smiles soft, but crooked. Dangerous in the way only someone with control can be.
“Look at you,” he says, voice low. Rougher now. “All worked up, all wound tight — and now you’re down here like my puppy, needing someone to tell you what to do.”
Buck makes a noise at that, a soft, keening sound in the back of his throat, shame and want tangled up so tight they’re indistinguishable. He doesn’t look up. He just presses in a little closer, face still hidden, as if he knows what he is and doesn’t want to run from it anymore.
Eddie’s thumb traces the back of Buck’s neck, slow and steady.
“That what you need, Buck?” he murmurs. “You need someone to hold the leash? Keep you in line?”
Buck nods, small and helpless. And Eddie feels it like a thrum in his own chest.
And that’s the moment everything tips.
