‘’No Buck, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that you as a parent can and need to set some boundaries in order for either of you to not get hurt, or worse. That’s not restricting him in anything, it’s support. You’re not abandoning him, you’re creating safe space for him,’’ he pleads.

He really needs Buck to see that the 118 – and Eddie – are not his enemies in settling boundaries while raising Theo.

Buck spins on the soles of his feet and sighs annoyingly. ‘’Great. Listen, I know I’m not a father figure Eddie, we’ve already established that. I’ve never been. That’s why nobody ever…’’ He shakes his head trying to get rid of intrusive thoughts bubbling just underneath the surface. ‘’Not important, I get what you’re saying.’’

Eddie takes a step towards him, determined, his voice calm and collected. ‘’No Buck, I don’t think you do.’’

    Summary

Buck hadn't started the day with murderous intent — honest! But suddenly, the prospect of slowly choking the life out of one Ravi Panikkar and methodically dismembering his limbs becomes far too enticing. Maybe, Buck thinks, he had the right idea with that chainsaw 4 years ago.

Because Ravi opens his mouth and declares, "Never have I ever hooked up with an ex." And he has the gall, the audacity to look straight at Buck expectantly, mouth turned up into a half-smile, eyebrows wiggling. Buck has half a mind to singe those brows right off.

And to his right, boring holes into the side of Buck's head with the intensity of his gaze, is Eddie. His brow scrunched and head tilted, like he's trying to piece a puzzle together. Probably the who, when, where, why and how of Buck sleeping with an ex.

Or; Trapped in the firehouse during a blackout, Buck suggests that the 118 play Never Have I Ever. They learn a little more about each other than he expects.

    Summary

And, here, looking at his best friend, he can see that something’s broken inside him, too. And, maybe it’s the therapy he’s had over the years, his sessions with Frank, but Eddie wants to talk to Buck. He wants Buck to talk to him. Buck, who just looks so fucking sad, still in his dress blues, one hand drinking the beer, the other coming up to loosen his tie.

This morning, Eddie had noticed Buck tying, untying, retying the tie with breaths of frustration, fingers shaking. “Eddie,” he’d said lowly from across the room, and Eddie wouldn’t have even heard him if he hadn’t been watching. “I, uh, can never – I can never get this right.”

    Summary

A patient is flirting with Buck. The good news is, Buck seems to be enjoying himself immensely judging by his tilted grin and the fact that he’s lingering while Hen and Eddie actually try to do their jobs. The bad news is… all of the above.

“Alright, Buck,” Chim swoops in like Eddie’s knight in shining armor. “Stop distracting your husband and let him do his job.”

Buck’s face drops, gawking at Chimney as he continues on his way to the truck.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize…” their patient begins, her shoulders bunching to her ears.

“No!” Buck waves his hands, whipping his head down to look at her. “No. Soon to be ex-husband, actually.”

She makes a face. Eddie tries not to. “That sounds… complicated,” she says.

“Nope. Not complicated at all,” Buck insists. “We got married as a joke in Vegas. It didn’t mean anything. Drunken mistake.”

Eddie clenches his jaw, praying for the ground to open up and drag him under.

Eddie has come to the decision that a forever love is not for him. He plans to remain happily single for the rest of his life. That is, until a drunken night in Vegas changes everything.

    Summary

"What are you saying, Eddie?" Buck asks again, soft and patient, and it's so unlike him that Eddie melts into his chair.

"Yeah," Eddie chuckles. "What am I saying?"

"Y-you want to try with me? Figuring out…"

"If we could want the same form of physical intimacy from each other," Eddie finishes for him with a nod, a little more confident now.

    "H-how?"

"Uh, I don't know yet," Eddie admits. "Slowly, I suppose. I thought we could, you know, come up with a plan together?"

"A plan," Buck echoes, but he doesn't sound weirded out, more like he's already planning to buy a clipboard. "And it wouldn't be strange? I mean, considering— I'm a man, Eddie."

OR After the attack in the hospital, Eddie finds a letter hidden inside a book that Buck gave him, and reading it unravels him irreparably.
